4. Process & costs

Stage One: Initial Designs

Once we've talked to you and looked at the background information you've provided, we'll come up with two different website designs for your company. You can pick a design and we'll develop it further, talking to you throughout the process. Normally, we'll go through 2–3 versions before arriving at the final design. Once you're happy with it, we'll take it to the implementation stage.

Stage Two: Implementation

With your design completed, we then transform the finalised graphic files into html pages. We then add your content and put your site onto the web at a temporary test URL, so that you can inspect it.

Stage Three: Content Management System (optional)

If you wish to update the site yourself, we can install a content management system that allows you to modify existing pages and add new ones. This is a user-friendly tool that is extremely simple to use, whether your site has 20 or 2000 pages. The cost depends on the size of your site, as we will scale the system to fit it.

Stage Four: Web Hosting

We can host your site on one of our several dedicated servers (which are themselves hosted by dedipower.com). We can offer you a hosting package starting from £30 a month. This includes two hours of support each month, when we can carry out minor modifications to your website's design and functionality.

Payment Terms

We don't charge an up-front fee, but do ask for prompt payment when each stage is completed. You can pay online by credit card, using our secure payment facility. You will be invoiced by UK-based Magic Web Solutions.

Communications

We prefer to communicate mainly by email or Instant Messenger, as this enables us to keep our prices low. Please call our UK office only if you have any urgent problems or issues to discuss.

How much should a simple website design cost?

How we can help to keep your costs down


	Stage One takes around 3–4 days and costs around £200 plus VAT. If you find and buy your own templates, we can modify them, reducing this cost to £50–£150 plus VAT.


	Stage Two takes 2 days and costs around £120 plus VAT.


	Stage Three takes 2 days and costs from £250 plus VAT.


	A word of warning If you search on the Internet, you'll find some US-based hosting companies offering a service from as little as $5 per month. We believe it's impossible to provide good support for such a fee. Think for yourself: there's probably one administrator handling hundreds of servers and thousands of sites. We're unable to match such low costs because we have one administrator for 10 servers and he's busy every day, installing software updates, monitoring security and verifying backups. Which level of service would you prefer?
